Hello Friends!  I'm fresh back from THE most amazing scrapbooking retreat held in Australia - Escape2Create.  I was honoured to be teaching a class to 80 wonderful and already incredibly talented ladies and I had the. best. time!! But more about that later, after I've dug through all my photos from the weekend to share with you.

Today I want to let you know about the sketch challenge over at Scraptastic Club.  The ever fabulous Susan Stringfellow has designed a fun sketch.  It is so inspiring it had 14 of our team designers put their hand up to participate.  You really need to check it out.

Scraptastic Club | Pinterest Monday...

Hello Friends! Today on the Scraptastic Club blog, Monique and I are sharing a little inspiration from an image we found on Pinterest! We decided it was time to challenge ourselves with a limited palette and only words to guide us. Our other challenge point was to somehow include celebrating International Women's Day which was held earlier in the month.

 (Pinterest source.)

Here is my take on the challenge.

"Beautiful Girl"

products used: Scraptastic Club Kit - Counting Stars; Add on - Counting Stars; other - October Afternoon mist (Midway), versamark ink (black).

My daughter is growing into a beautiful young woman.  And she is an incredibly hard worker.  Everything she does is done with a 110% work ethic.  But like most teenage girls, self doubt can sometimes cripple her.

I hope you get the chance to head on over for a visit and find out what it is I love about this challenge.

Thanks for visiting...x

Bella Blvd | What's New Wednesday...

Hello Friends!  Today I am sharing another fun project created for Bella Blvd using the awesome new Color Chaos collection.

"A Day At The Museum"

products used: Color Chaos: Blueberry Strandz, Ice Strandz, McIntosh Strandz, Bell Pepper Strandz; Campout: Treasures & Text, Arrows Clear Cut; Amorie Chipboard Alpha: White; High Five Alpha Stickers: Brown-Cream; Ciao Chipboard: Symbols, WhatNots; Enamel Dots: Oreo Black

When creating this layout, I took inspiration from the colours in the clothes my son was wearing. After all, this is a layout about him and I wanted the focus to be drawn to the photo first.

From there I added a bold pop of red to create a visual triangle which includes the three main elements on my page - title, photo & journaling. As my page is already quite busy with the strong choice of patterned papers, the Clear Cut transparency beneath my photo was ideal to create a little extra interest without the extra clutter. I also love that the words that are visible on the Clear Cut, relate back to the story I am documenting.

Thanks for visiting today. And for those who are wanting to inject a little colour into their scrapping creativity, Color Chaos is now available over in the Sassy Scrapper shop. You can find it here.

JOT Magazine | March Mood Board...

Hello Friends!! Up on the Jot Magazine blog today, the Jot Girls are sharing how the March Mood Board inspired us to create some fun projects. Check out the board here:

Here's what I created..

"Play"

products used: cs - American Crafts, Bo Bunny; pp - Pebbles, Jillibean Soup; alpha - MFT alphabet dies; other - Dear Lizzy ephemera, Jillibean Soup soup label, studio calico wood heart veneer, enamel dots, paper clip, vellum sentiment, Heidi Grace sticker, October Afternoon mist, Kaisercraft rub-ons; tools - silhouette portrait, Scaptastic Club clear stamps, small cloud punch.

I created the 3x4 card using my Silhouette Portrait and a favourite nursery rhyme.  From there I simply layered my colour matched products and shared my story with hidden journaling.

----quick tutorial-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To create your own nursery rhyme cut file, open a new file in Silhouette and using the rounded corner rectangle, create a shape at 3" wide x 4" high. This forms your background/base card.

Click on the text icon and type in your selected phrase.  I created a different text box for each line of text.  This allowed me to resize and alter the spacing between the words.  I also used the Aharoni font. Once each line of the nursery rhyme is sized to your satisfaction, hold the 'shift' key and select the entire cut file. You can now centre the phrase inside the box.

Hold the 'shift' key and select the entire cut file once again and then group all the elements together by right clicking the mouse.

Now you can send the file to your silhouette to be cut out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for visiting today.  I hope you get to play along over at Jot for your chance to win an awesome prize from 'APOCD'.  Good luck...x
