Calvin Ball | Day Three...

Calvin Ball challenge Day 3: use a date stamp, circle, enamel dots, washi tape, a crown and/or ice cream.

"You & Me"

Lots of layers happening here. I'm not sure I am following the rules, but more so looking at colour combinations to help complement my photo. I have added a date stamp and a stamped circle. I have no idea WHY I didn't add any enamel dots... LOL!

Calvin Ball | Day One...

Hey Friends! I'm trying something new for me! This year I am playing along with the scrappy game, Calvin Ball. If you want more details check out the Facebook forum Calvinball 2020. Basically the idea is to create a layout a day during the month of March. I know I cannot commit completely to this timeframe, but I'm going to do my best. Even if it's just to simply boost my creativity.

And just like the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, each day, no rules are the same. We really get to mix it up.

"6 AM"

This layout is all about how Cam loves to be the first one ready for school each day. He is often up at 6am waiting for the rest of the crew to wake from their slumber!

The rules for Day 1: use a frame, white gel pen title, star and gold foil.

Create | Accordion Mini Album...

My beautiful niece has just started her first year at Boarding School and I wanted to send her some love via the mail. What better way to make someone smile.

She's been having a difficult time adjusting to her new schedule, but hopefully these love notes will help remind her that she is truly special.

To recreate this look, all you need is one sheet of Bite Size Bits (3x4 cut aparts) from Jillibean Soup; and coordinating embellishments. I have used Bowl of Dreams.

step 1. Trim the cut apart patterned paper into two rows.

step 2. Select one row and trim the left side to form a tab. See photo above. This will mean losing part of the 3x4 images on the patterned paper.

step 3. Score fold line (valleys and mountains) along the 3x4 image borders, including the tab.

step 4. Adhere the two rows together.

step 5. Embellish each section, creating hidden pockets and tags.

step 6. Fold the mini album along the score lines to reduce the size and secure with a piece of bakers twine.

And now it's as simple as popping your gift in the mail!

2020 | Welcome...

Welcome 2020! Hello Friends. I'll be honest. I don't really know what my intentions will be with this blog in the coming year. I'll probably still touch base. I might revert back to just documenting family stuff as I did in the beginning. But I will endeavour to get on here now and again to say hi!

Today I wanted to quickly share a favourite tradition I started back in 2011.  At the end of next year, it will mark the ten year anniversary of compiling yearly photo books. I am proud to say I already have nine in my possession!

Each Christmas I bring the memories, highs and lows throughout the year, together and have them printed into a book. Going through each photo month by month can definitely pinpoint grateful moments at an incredibly stressful time of year.

These books have become so popular in my family. It's like they're a staple that everyone can't wait to consume once it's on the table!

And I love that they want to sit and reflect.

And I especially love that once you have these books in hand, you can see the physical growth my kids have made over the years. I mean, they're not going to stay little forever right?!

I've built each book up similar to a PL set up. I just wish I had added more journaling. But it has always been a tough decision to decide between sacrificing photos or words.  So far, photos have always won!

I also "borrow" photos from my kid's social media accounts. As they grow older, they become more reluctant to get in front of the camera. But I have found ways to get the crazy moments captured. Even if I wasn't present!!!

I am looking to change up the format for 2020. I am excited to plan and see where this tradition takes me.

Happy 2020 Friends! May your year be full of adventures..x
