He has a secret....

 *warning* Proud Mama moment...

..but he is BURSTing. To. Tell! This little smarty-pants has already achieved a "Student of the Month" award for his school this year and he is only in Prep.  But that, of course, isn't his news.  He has gone and topped that award. Pffiff!  LOL! Let me insert a little perspective in here...

My kids go to a large public school.  Unfortunately for the "large" part and it's not something we can really afford to change.  The "large" accounts for over 1300 kids.  That is just the Primary School.  Not High School and not Kindy.

However, we are fortunate that the kids are thriving in their learning environment and not falling through the cracks.  They all have brilliant teachers and I love that I have the opportunity to go and help in-class every week ....and take Cameron with me.

Every week sees students being awarded on Parade by their teachers and peers, by receiving accolades and praise.  Every month, one student from each class gets chosen by their teacher to get "The Student of the Month" award.  But the school has just introduced a new incentive for the kids to strive towards....

"AUSSIE OF THE MONTH"

Only four students from the junior school and four students from the senior school are awarded.  Eight in total out of those 1300 kids.  These kids are not chosen by their "biased" teachers (LOL!), but rather nominated by them.  The school Principal has the final say.

The awards are nominated based partly on courtesy, not necessarily academic achievements, being a good sport and of course behavior levels.

Sooo... in short... my little smarty-pants won, one of the first "Aussie of the Month" awards for his school!

As part of his prize, he gets to go to Sizzler for free!  Yay for Ethan!  LOL!

Please forgive me my little brag moment.  I am so very proud of my little school boy.  And I am also so very proud of my big school boy too!

This smarty-pants was nominated for the award.  I think he is a little disappointed he didn't actually win but at the same time he is gracious that his brother did.  The good news however, he came home with the "Student of the Month" award for August!  Gotta love that!

Thanks so much for visiting....x

Create + Share...

Today I have another layout and my first one to share from Pretty Little Studio.  They have the most wonderful little word flashcards and I really want to use them on everything! LOL!  So far I have restrained myself... (ahem)... But you might see a few more of them in the future.  Okay.  You will most definitely see more of them in the future.  But just look at them.  They are so very cute!

And of course this one was a perfect match for Ethan's snow photo.

Hello Friends.  I've had a bit of slow start to the month.  Granted.  It's only 5 days in but I want to get back to my regular blogging.  I'm just finding it a little bit hard to find my mojo.  But having said that... I do have some scrapping to share.... Yay!

Over at Pretty Little Studio we are introducing a new series of challenges!  And it's so much FUN!  Melissa has been browsing Pintrest (as we all do! LOL!) and has found this fabulous image:

What you need to do now is find inspiration from it and "think" outside the box.  This week it is an Ad challenge.  Next week it might be a colour challenge or a dare challenge!  There are some fabulous prizes to win and if you love that retro/vintage element on your pages, you need to go and visit the shop.

Here's my sample and first piece of work shared over at Pretty Little Studio!!  Woo Hooo... (sorry, just a little bit excited!  hahaha)

{Hi}

I didn't have any kraft cardstock in my stash! Yikes!!!  So I had to improvise - dressmakers patterned paper it is!

products: Charm 8x8 patterned paper, Apothecary journaling cards - rough and tumble, Celebrate Paper Ribbons, kaisercraft: crochet doily, kaisercraft: ink (corn), My Mind's Eye: pearl brad, dressmakers patterned paper.

Also....

This fortnight I get to set the challenge over at The Boxx.  I know I've had a few very busy weeks and I'm guessing there's generally some craziness in most others homes' as well! LOL!  I could be wrong though!  (And I might be the only one who is fishing clothes out of the bottom of a suitcase, while the hubby just wants to go fishing....)

So this fortnight I am opting for "easy".  Gotta love easy right?!  Hopefully there's enough love out there and somebody will complete the challenge....pretty please!

My challenge is:  To create a LO with three or more photos, include journaling, and a piece of string/twine

 [story]

products: pp - Bella!, Kaisercraft (Lullaby, Party Animals), October Afternoon (Rocket Age); other - shipping tag, kaisercraft: pearl brad, ink; crafter's template; black pen (sharpie); sewing machine; martha stewart circle punch; star punch; buttons; string.

So.... There we go.  I hope I will see some familiar names and faces join in with both challenges!  Thanks for visiting (and keeping me motivated!!)  ;)

Hi Everyone.  I am home again after a sad journey home.  I don't really know what to say or write, but I do know that I want to say thank you for all the wonderful and supportive comments left on my blog while I was away.  The best thing for me now though, is to get straight back into what I love doing.  And that's making special memories with my family and documenting them as we go.

I know my Dad enjoyed looking at the photos and stories shared here on my blog... and he especially loved the times where he was featured!  LOL!!  Like in this "gem" created for Storyboard Kits...

[Lil' Mate]

I'll miss you Dad.

I have a little bit of housekeeping and some layouts to share.  Firstly, this is my take on Sketchabilities #51

The DT even got to play with some fabulous Purple Pumpkin goodies!  Sam is sponsoring the prize this month and trust me!  You really need to be in it to win this prize!  Yum!!

Thanks again everyone, for staying with me.  :)  I can't wait to get back in and play with scissors, paper and glue!

"Was" is the hardest word to say...

Dear Friends,

I just wanted to let you all know that I am taking a short break from the blogging world for the next week or so.  This hiatus is sadly due to the sudden passing of my Dad.  I know my friends, you will completely understand and no doubt will be here for me when I find the strength to get through this.

For now...  I am in North Queensland with my Mum.  And slowly going through the motions.  Thanks for the love I know I have from you all, even though I haven't posted this message yet.

I'll be home soon....x
