Pebbles Inc | October Sketch...

Hey Friends! There's a new challenge up on the Pebbles Inc blog. We have started to introduce a few sketch challenges! Have a look at our very first inspiration sketch..

My layout has stayed pretty true to the overall positioning of elements on the page. However, I simply replaced the hexagon shapes with fussy cut butterflies from the new Midnight Haunting collection.
supplies: cs - American Crafts; pp - Pebbles Inc Midnight Haunting; other - Simple Life Embossed Stickers.

Head on over to the blog and seek out the inspiration shared from the amazing DT. Two winners will be chosen from the submissions sent in. Good luck!

Page Maps & Bella Blvd | Hello Smile...

This month, Bella Blvd is sponsoring the challenge over at Becky Fleck's PageMaps.  The Bella Blvd design team had the awesome opportunity to play along. This is the sketch Becky asked me to create with..

I love the vertical lines and the added interest of enamel dots! So.. This is the layout I ended up creating.

"Hello Smile"

products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Bella Blvd (Color Chaos); other - Bella Blvd: enamel dots, stickers; paint; tools - machine stitching, typewriter.

I didn't want to go too crazy with the colour on this page, instead staying true to the hues found in the photo. The simplicity of the overall layout is what appeals to me the most.  And of course there's the story too. That look of pure tranquillity on my sons face, was soon abolished when his brothers decided they needed to jump on top of him in the pool!

sigh... boys.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope many of you got a chance to create last week end in celebration of (inter)National Scrapbooking Day!

Bella Blvd | Friday Sketch...

Hi Everyone!  Today I am sharing my layout created for the Friday Sketch over at Bella Blvd.  This sketch comes courtesy of Becky Fleck and is just divine! *grin*

This is how my layout looks, after I shrunk the sketch down to suit my preferred scrapping size...

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bella Blvd; alphas - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd: buttons, cardstock stickers, paper pieces, tags; mist; tools - machine stitching, black pen, foam tape.

This sketch was such a fun starting point for creating my layout and I didn't need to change it very much at all. To downsize the sketch to suit my 8.5" x 11" layout style, I minimized the number of elements placed on the right side of the photo. I then used this opportunity to create layers and dimension on top of the square elements.

I also love the little details that can already be found in the Alpha+Bits negative spaces. The stars reminded me of the little bits that float about inside snow globes when you shake them. Adding details to the circle punched paper pieces, also reminded me of these shaken features inside "round" snow globes.

Don't forget to check out what the other designers did with this sketch as well. Lot's of Christmassy creations being put together!  Thanks for visiting..x

The Scrapbook Store | November Sketch...

Hello Friends.  I back today to share with you, my layout for this month's sketch for The Scrapbook Store.  Once again it has been designed by my lovely friend Melinda Spinks.  This lady has no end to her scrapping talents! :)

 "Family Update"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Carta Bella, Teresa Collins; other - Jillibean Soup: twine; Greatest View badges/flair; shimmerz mist; tools - foam tape, arrow stencil.

My take on the sketch is a little more subtle.  The basics are there, with maybe a few extra layers.  *grin*

I hope you will join in with this challenge over at The Scrapbook Store.  There is already a huge amount of inspiration from the DT in the gallery and there is always an awesome prize to be won.  You won't regret checking it out.  Thanks for visiting..x

Life.Paper.Scrapbook | November Sketch...

Wow!  Can you believe we are almost through another year?!  Life certainly gets busy and in the blink of an eye, time suddenly disappears.  Thankfully we have those scrapping moments where we can look back on the year and celebrate the life we are living.  Today I am sharing the November Sketch release over at Life.Paper.Scrapbook.

"Best Water Fight Ever"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup, Bella Blvd, American Crafts - Dear Lizzy; alpha - Scenic Route, Kaisercraft mini alphas, Jenni Bowlin, Simple Stories; other - staple, black paint, Lux stickers, vellum, October Afternoon cardstock labels, Jenni Bowlin banner stickers, Studio Calico: wood veneer heart, Crate Paper stickers, ink; tools - silhouette portrait.

Yep.  I've changed it up again.  But the main elements are still there.  I promise! *grin*

There are so many elements on this page already, that I will go back and create a pocket just for journaling.  Normally I would write the story directly onto the back of the page but my dear friend Melinda Spinks, has just shared a really cool way to do this on the Jillibean Soup blog

And now for the fun part!!  This month's prize for the Life.Paper.Scrapbook sketch challenge, has kindly been donated by...

The Scrapbook Store | October Sketch...

Hi Everyone!  Today I am sharing this month's sketch from The Scrapbook Store.  It is another gorgeous design created by my talented friend Melinda Spinks

I've added my own touches to it - like rotate it to the right and of course shrunk it down to 8.5" x 11".  *grin*

"Treasure Hunt"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Carta Bella (Rough & Tumble); alpha - Dear Lizzy, Jillibean Soup; other - Carta Bella: cardstock stickers; Echo Park: Decorative Brads; Jenni Bowlin butterfly stickers, twine, mist (Mister Huey's, Glimmermist), Colorbox ink (pool); tools - black pen, hole punch, Amy Tangerine clear stamps.

I put this layout together using my The Scrapbook Store dt kit for October.  It is full of lovely Carta Bella collection featuring Rough & Tumble.  These soft blues/aquas/yellows were perfect for the beach scene in my photos.

The element stickers from Carta Bella are absolutely gorgeous and I have teamed them up with the decorative brads from Echo Park. I kind of went a little over board when using them together! *grin*

I hope you will join in with this challenge over at The Scrapbook Store.  There is already a huge amount of inspiration from the DT flooding the gallery.  Thanks for visiting..x

As you can see, I have stayed fairly true to the sketch.  I had considered turning it on its side but these photos and that gorgeous quote from Glitz Designs patterned paper, work for me in this orientation.  :)

This month's sponsor for our sketch challenge is Studio Fourteen40.  Here is a little more info about this new Aussie company.
