Well CHAW2015 is all finished for another year and there are a gazillion new releases out there, flooding our computer screens, as the lucky ones snap away at their favourite new collections!  I so wish I could have been there too.  Don't we all! *grin*  But in my stead, I am very fortunate to have had some of my work on display, right here at the Jillibean Soup Booth.

I was asked to play with the new Jillibean Soup | Soup Staples III.  A new collection of 12x12 papers and an assortment of paper goodies to use as "sides"!

Bella Blvd | Pinterest Inspiration...

Hi Everyone!  I have a layout up on the Bella Blvd blog today sharing the monthly Pinterest Inspiration challenge.  Here is the photo the design team was provided with...

I fell for the gold.  And the glitter.  Well... It was the gold glitter full stop! *grin*  I loved the shimmery vibe and even though we are experiencing Spring in the Southern Hemisphere, I loved the lightness and magical feel this Autumnal photo portrayed! This is where that inspiration led to.

"Hello Peter Pan"
products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Bella Blvd (Hello Autumn); Alpha - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd: stickers; gold embossing powder, gold thread, gold colorshine; tools - typewriter.
The leaves and larger alphas were given a gold dipped effect.  And a part from some fussy cutting, I have left a lot of white space.

For a simple how-to, head on over to the Bella Blvd blog.

Jillibean Soup | Minecraft...

Hello Friends!  I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but my sons are crazy (and I mean car-razy)
about minecraft.  Especially my eldest boy.  And it is just about doing my head in, trying to keep up with this phenomenon.  So while I am trying to understand it, I decided to create a layout about this latest obsession, using the gorgeous new collections from Jillibean Soup.

"Minecraft"

Jillibean Soup + PageMaps...

Hi Everyone!  I have a layout to share with you today!  Yay!  It seems that during school holidays, I get next to nothing done! LOL!  Is it like that in your household?  Maybe it's just me.  *grin*

Today's layout is a collaboration between Jillibean Soup and Becky Fleck's PageMaps.  I really enjoyed doing this challenge.  Every now and then I need a sketch to help my mojo (and this definitely comes in handy right now with the afore mentioned school holidays!!!)

products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Jillibean Soup (Cool as a Cucumber); alpha - Jillibean Soup (Bean boards); other - Jillibean Soup: stickers, pea pod parts, wood sprinkles, file folder, doily; mist; tools - machine stitching.

Jillibean Soup | Cool as a Cucumber..

Hello Friends!  Today I am sharing a LO I created for Jillibean Soup and their new, absolutely fabulous collection, Cool as a Cucumber Soup!  *swoon*  I am so in love with this paper line! LOL!!

"Doughnuts"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup; alpha - Jillibean Soup Beanboards; other - Jillibean Soup: label sticker, peapod parts; embroidery thread, staple; tools: typewriter.

I'm not sure what it was that urged me to create this LO.  I knew I wanted to document my eldest son's eating habits... because there was a time when it was so hard to get him to eat anything much at all.  And now.. at age 11(!) I can't seem to fill him up! Doughnuts, I suppose, are usually a good incentive to eat food, right?! LOL!

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you will find time to check out the DT creations over at Jillibean sometime soon...x

Scraptastic Club | Pinterest Inspiration...

Hi Everyone!!!  Today over at the Scraptastic Club blog, I am sharing a layout inspired by this gorgeous image.

This string of light bulbs got me thinking of all those cliché phrases... and everyone of those phrases reminded me of my oldest son.  *grin*

"I Love His Creative Mind"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; kit - Scraptastic Club Kit.

I chose to work with this month's gorgeous Daylight Kit.  The coordinating stamp sets just so happened to have a light bulb included!! yay!!

Scraptastic Club's Daylight Stamp Set

I stamped the images onto white cardstock. When I did this, I masked off certain areas of the stamp so I could use different coloured inks.  With the "yellow" light bulb, I also used gold embossing powder.

Mounting the fussy cut images just adds to the layering effect I was looking for.

This boy can drive me crazy!!  LOL!  His quick wit can either frustrate me to tears or bring me into fits of laughter.  Either way, I adore him.  And I'm pretty sure his teacher's at school appreciate his sense of humour... although... some days I'm not sure why! *grin*  Until I get a note home that doesn't say "Love his humour" I don't think I'll stress overly much about that fine line he dances on..

Thanks for visiting today...x

As you can see, I have stayed fairly true to the sketch.  I had considered turning it on its side but these photos and that gorgeous quote from Glitz Designs patterned paper, work for me in this orientation.  :)

This month's sponsor for our sketch challenge is Studio Fourteen40.  Here is a little more info about this new Aussie company.

Studio Fourteen40 is an exciting new business who made their debut into the paper-craft scene in September this year. Owner and designer, Sandra Allan is ecstatic that her 'baby' generated so much interest and excitement within such a short time.

Life.Paper.Scrapbook | September Colour Challenge...

Hello Friends! Today I am sharing my layout for the new Life.Paper.Scrapbook colour challenge.  This one has nice zesty colours that can easily be brightened up for Spring or watered down to use on a beautiful Autumn page.  Either way it sure is an inspirational colour palette!

Here's what I created...

"Wicked Fun"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Glitz Design 6" paper pad; alpha - American Crafts; Jenni Bowlin; Kaisercraft; other - Becky Higgins PL card; Pebbles peg; Glitz Design stickers; Greatest View badges/flair; twine, Bella Blvd designer tape; mist; gelatos; tools - typewriter.

My boy has such a quick wit.  At ten he is constantly cracking me up into fits of laughter at some of the outlandish things he comes up with!  His sense of humour is definitely groan worthy and I can only blame his father.  And come to think of it.. his Grandfather, Uncles on both sides of the family and in the last two years, his school teachers!! Liam has had the good fortune to really bond with his teachers.  For both Grade Four and Grade Five, he has had a male teacher.  Mr Z.  and Mr W.

Earlier this year I went into school to have a chat with Mr W.  I was concerned that with Liam's particular sense of humour it could be very border line funny, or cheeky.  This I guess depends on the teacher.  Just to clarify, Liam isn't a disrespectful child.  His mind races at 100 miles a minute to get his words out and sometimes (well, actually most of the time) he has a double meaning to what he says.  It's a talent I'm sure!

Anyway, I was concerned as to how his new teacher this year would interpret Liam's words.  If anything, I didn't want him to be rude to the teacher.  I just wanted to make Liam aware of the things he was saying and how some people might not see the funny side of what he was trying to say!  After a full school year previously with a teacher who had the SAME sense of humour, I was worried that he would go over board.  Honestly... I shouldn't have worried.  Mr.W's response to me after voicing my concerns... "Liam is a good kid.  Don't worry about him.. But secretly, off the record... He's my protégé!"   *groan*   So here I sit, putting up with another year of bad jokes and witty one-liners.

Jillibean Soup | Mr Science...

Hello Friends!  Jillibean Soup is sharing one of my layouts today and I thought I'd share it here as well, along with some more details.  :)

My eldest boy LOVES science.  Absolutely LOVES it!  *grin*  Even his teacher has recognised Liam's need to have a science based learning curriculum in the classroom!  (Got to love a teacher who goes out of his way to encourage students to learn.)  And for this reason I thought I'd document his greatest love at the age of 10.

"Mr. Science"

products used: pp - Jillibean Soup: Irish Farm House Soup/Sea Salt, Barley, Sliced Turnip, Bite Size Bits; Chilled Cucumber Soup/Yellow Tomatoes, Sherry Vinegar, Bite Size Bits; Macho Nacho Soup/1 Part Man; Soup Staples II/Yellow Salt, Gray Salt; Coordinating Cardstock Stickers:  Grandma's Lima Bean Soup; Alphabeans:  Mushroom Gray; Pea Pod Parts:  Chilled Cucumber Soup; Corrugated Shapes:  Kraft People; Hexies:  Memorable; Other - grid stamp, mist; Tools - hole punch, circle punches, type writer.

I wanted to create a science experiment "feeling" to this page with plenty of bubbles rising, arrows showing different directions and question marks hidden among the chaos.  Throw in a speech bubble because he is such a chatterbox and I've pretty much summed him up!  Plenty of layers and dimension.

My journaling has been typed up and hidden beneath the photo.  It pulls out on the teal tab just below the "notes" sticker.

On the opposite side, I've used the notebook paper from the Chilled Cucumber collection but punched holes in it to make it appear as though I've torn it straight from a journal pad.  Such a simple effect and I love the texture it adds to my page.

I'm so glad I've now got this documented.  He wants to be a geologist when he grows up.  And so far that hasn't changed for quite some time (give or take six months!! *grin*).  Maybe next year his interests will go off in a new direction altogether (please not motorbikes. please not motorbikes!!)  LOL.  But for now, I love that he loves science.  Thanks for visiting..x
