World Card Making Day 2016 | Bella Blvd

Hello sweet friends! It has been a little while since I've had the time to come and visit here. Please forgive my absence while I make memories with my family! LOL!

Today is World Card Making Day! Yay! The team over at Bella Blvd have come together to help celebrate. I've had the pleasure of playing with the brand new Alex collection!

Here's what I created:

"14, Good Job, Bro!"

products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Bella BLVD (Alex); alpha - Bella BLVD (Color Chaos); other - Bella BLVD: Alex paper pieces, washi tape, fundamentals; IF enamel hearts; twine; embroidery floss; tools - hand stitching.

Any mum of boys could probably tell you that they have an innate sense of gaming technology! I was drawn to using the paper piece of the xbox remote as my focal point. Boy + Game = fun birthday card!! My biggest boy turns 14 next month, so it was an easy choice to create this birthday card with him in mind.

For added whimsy, I've included hand stitching and mounted the gamer remote control onto foam dots. I also love how the patterned paper shows through the washi tape at the bottom!

Thanks for joining me here on the Bella Blog Hop.  Don't forget to check in with BB every hour to see all the fabulous creations being shared. Plus there might also be the chance to win a prize or two... hint, hint!

Good luck!  And thanks for visiting...x

Jillibean Soup | 12...

Have you ever noticed that every now and then Jillibean Soup offer some awesome free cutfiles?? This layout was created with our designer challenge in mind. And this fun freebie resulted in some stunning creations over at the Jillibean Soup blog.

I decided to use the negative space from the cutfile to share the story of my son's twelfth birthday.

"12"

products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Jillibean Soup (Cold Avocado Soup); alphas - Jillibean Soup Alphabeans (mushroom gray); other - Jillibean Soup: wood veneer, soup labels, coordinating label stickers; tools - date stamp, typewriter.

While I had this file open in my silhouette program, I dragged some of the pie pieces out from the circle shape. I wanted to exaggerate the slices to resemble pieces of cake.

I backed each negative shape with a coordinating patterned paper and layered my photo on top. My journaling was typed directly onto the back ground cardstock and the wood veneers were inked before being attached to my page.

Thanks again for joining me here today. I hope you will come back tomorrow to see some more Jillibean Soup love!!

Scraptastic Club | Pinterest Monday..

Hi there!  I feel like I've been a stranger around these parts lately.  Sorry for the absence but with a household of sick children for the last two weeks, sometimes blogging gets put on the back burner! LOL!

Today I am sharing a layout created for Scraptastic Club | Pinterest MondayShellye McDaniel and I conspired together and found a gorgeous image on Pinterest.

5f8707add291eada360aa1489aa830ac

"You are Nine"

products used: Scraptastic Club Kit - This Must Be The Place; Add on - This Must Be The Place; wood veneers - This Must Be The Place; tools - typewriter, circle punches.

I have used several sizes of circle punches and trimmed to create a straight edge across the punched patterned paper.  I have then overlapped the patterned paper from the This Must Be The Place kit (January) to create a similar design as seen in the Pinterest Inspiration.

To make it easier to line all the paper pieces together, I cut a thin strip of cardstock and adhered the circles to it before adding them to the final layout.  This also allowed me to easily adjust the placement around my photo, title and journaling.

Thanks for visiting! I hope I have shared a little inspiration to help you keep the mojo flowing.  Perhaps your next project will include a few arched and layered lines..x

He's nine today...

So... I have a birthday boy in the house today.  He's sweet and cheeky, and the most loveable nine year old you will likely to ever come across.  We love our boy very much and I thought I'd celebrate him today by sharing a few layouts I've created about his quirky traits.  Because after all, he's provided some good fodder for scrapping over the years. *grin*

yep.  That's my boy.  Happy Birthday sweetheart...x
