Jot Magazine | July Mood Board...

Hello Friends!  Have you had a chance to check out the new July Mood Board over at Jot Magazine lately?  It is a stunner!  Created by the lovely Jot Girl Beshka, it has citrus-y tang to it that completely appeals to me!

smallJULY2015BESHKA BOARD

This is what I came up with...

products used: cs - Bazzill; pp - Studio Calico, Jillibean Soup; alpha - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd stickers & chipboard; brads; tools - water colour paints, typewriter.

I was so inspired by the colours on this Mood Board that my story easily came together.  I also wanted to create a fresh look on my layout without the feminine touches. Therefore, colours + story + inspiration, culminated in a layout sharing my five year old’s passion for hockey and the crazy number of hours he spends practising.

I'm so glad I've documented this story. The Heidi Swapp "document" die inspired me to capture this snapshot of life. After all, isn't this what it's all about?  *grin*

Head on over to the JOT blog and submit your entry to win a really cool prize!  I can't wait to see what you create. Thanks for visiting...x

Bella Blvd | What's New...

Ok.. So the title of this blog post is supposed to say "Bella Blvd | What's New Wednesday".  I think I've kind of missed the deadline on this one! *grin* Oh! It's up on the Bella blog alright, but I definitely missed the mark when it has come time to share it here!  whoops!!
This layout was created using the new Campout collection.

"Our Camp"

products used: Bella BLVD - Campout: Daily Details, Under The Stars, Treasures & Text, Trinkets, Chipboard Icons; Color Chaos: Bell Pepper Strandz, Scallop Strandz, Blueberry Strandz; Lucky Starz: Scallop Starz; Hello Autumn: Treasures & Text; Ciao Chipboard: Whatnots; Sienna Chipboard Alphas: Blueberry; Enamel DooDads: Blueberry; High Five Alpha Stickers: Brown-Cream.
journaling - our favourite part of camping is when we get to sit around the fire, usually on the first night. we relax & listen to the bush settle for the night & watch the stars gently shine down upon us. it's a time to really talk to each other without the distractions of i-devises. I love how we all reconnect - family time.

We love going camping and I am so glad that Bella has created this new line! I can't wait to document more of our adventures using it!  Thanks for visiting..x

Scraptastic Club | Heart It Races...

Hi Everyone!  Today I want to share two layouts I've created using this month's gorgeous Heart It Races kit from Scraptastic Club!  As soon as I saw this kit I fell in love with the colors! And when I teamed some of the papers from the kit up with this silly photo of Cam, a crazy idea "popped" into my head.  Yes! That's right, pop culture references immediately started gathering and I couldn't go past the look on my his face and "uber male model" Zoolander.

products used: Scraptastic Club Kit - Heart It Races; Add-on - Heart It Races; Flair Badges - Heart It Races; other - Jillibean Soup wood sprinkle; paint; tools - typewriter.

Cam has absolutely no idea who Zoolander is... yet.  But with pop culture so prevalent, as he grows older, he will no doubt discover why I linked this particular photo with this title.

I've layered many of the embellishments found in the kit, to form a cluster at the bottom of the page and created a countdown "3, 2, 1" above the photo in subtle reference to getting ready to have a photo taken (or posing to have a photo taken!!) which is what he did here.

To balance the white space at the top of the page, I've added a few embellishment strips in colors that also create a visual triangle with the rest of the layout.

My journaling has been typed directly onto white cardstock and tucked behind the embellishment cluster.

Zoolander references may be 'old school' now but the same idea of using pop culture sayings or memes can apply to almost any scrapbooking situation.  This second layout has been created with a more recent pop culture phenomenon - The Hunger Games.

products used: Scraptastic Club Kit - Heart It Races; Add-on - Heart It Races; Cut Aparts - Heart It Races; Clear Stamps - Sentiment Series October other - paint; tools - typewriter; machine stitching.

The quote which inspired me to create this layout has been included in the journaling.

"May the odds be ever in your favour".

I've just added my own twist to the sentiment, linking it to the "foodie" photo.  The title reference has been used to reinforce the "food" message and also link to the quote I originally started with.

One of the patterned paper borders, had the word "scrumptious" written on it and so I trimmed it to suit my page.

And the rub-on arrows have been used as another reference to the title origins.

Finally I've added extra layers from the embellishments in the kit and trimmed the cut aparts to include the dart image.

There are so many pop culture references that apply to photos I've snapped of my children, I'm sure I will be using more in the future. What are some of your favourites? Thanks for visiting..x

The Scrapbook Store | Too Cute..

Hello Friends.  I am sharing with you today my last project using my May DT kit from The Scrapbook Store.  I really had a great time creating with this fabulous Pink Paislee Cottage Farms collection!  And even though it has plenty of pink in it.. It didn't stop me from creating a boyish layout! *grin*

"Too Cute"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Pink Paislee Cottage Farms; other - Pink Paislee: paper pack ephemera, packaging; tools - machine stitching, typewriter.

You may have also noticed that I have used the strip of paper that provides the paper product information.  I wanted to draw out more of the orange tones from the other patterned papers rather than the pink, but it also helps that there is a block of brown on the paper strip as well.

I think I have already mentioned in previous blog posts, how much I love this ephemera paper goods pack from Pink Paislee.  There are so many detailed pieces that come in the pack.  I love these circle elements used on my page and how they have formed a visual triangle around my photo.  I also love how each element can be layered with complete ease and doesn't detract from the layers below or above it.

If you would like to get your hands on some of these beautiful Pink Paislee products, just visit here at The Scrapbook Store.  Thanks for visiting..x
