Bella Blvd | Pinterest Inspiration...

Hi Everyone!  I have a layout up on the Bella Blvd blog today sharing the monthly Pinterest Inspiration challenge.  Here is the photo the design team was provided with...

I fell for the gold.  And the glitter.  Well... It was the gold glitter full stop! *grin*  I loved the shimmery vibe and even though we are experiencing Spring in the Southern Hemisphere, I loved the lightness and magical feel this Autumnal photo portrayed! This is where that inspiration led to.

"Hello Peter Pan"
products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Bella Blvd (Hello Autumn); Alpha - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd: stickers; gold embossing powder, gold thread, gold colorshine; tools - typewriter.
The leaves and larger alphas were given a gold dipped effect.  And a part from some fussy cutting, I have left a lot of white space.

 For a simple how-to, head on over to the Bella Blvd blog.

Hello Friends!  This week on the Bella Blvd blog a few members of the design team, get to showcase their curves!  Okay... maybe not the ones you are thinking of!  I am talking about the creative paper kind! Phew!  I am glad we got that sorted out! *grin*

Kiwi Lane sent us a number of templates to help aid our crafty spirit.  I was given the Chestnut Drive and Sincerely collections.  And I have to admit, playing with curves was hard work for this usual straight line scrapper! LOL!

Here is what I created...

products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Bella Blvd (Halloween Magic, Lucky Starz, Freestyle Sophisticates); other - Bella Blvd: Halloween Magic Treasures & Text sticker sheet, foam dots, Kiwi Lane Template.

Bella Blvd | Pinterest Inspiration...

Hello Friends.  I feel like I still have the need for post holiday slumbers.  *grin*  The temperatures here in SE Queensland have started to soar.  And that's okay.  Because we can quite comfortably turn on the AC and stay in our pyjamas all day long if need be. *wink*  But today I thought I'd like to leave my lazy haze, for just a moment and share with you my layout created for Bella Blvd.

"Imagination"
products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bella Blvd; alpha - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd:  cardstock stickers, designer tape; colorshine mist, date stamp, archivers ink.

Ethan created this 'costume' for book week by wearing blue clothes and painting the side of a cardboard box, blue.  He didn't have very many materials to work with and I didn't want to interfere with his grand scheme.  He stuck a possum hat on his head and went as a character from the book he is holding.  And guess what.  He won.  LOL!  He won the prize for his class.  He didn't need a store bought costume for the latest superhero or the thing that all the cool kids are currently wearing!  I love that he was creative and stuck to his idea!

I've taken my inspiration from the red and yellow colours but there's a few other details from the Pinterest photo that I've used on my page!  Head on over to the Bella Blvd blog for more details.  Thanks so much for visiting...x

Bella BLVD | Every Book...

Hi Everyone.  I just wanted to let you all know that there is an awesome giveaway over at Bella BLVD at the moment.  If you ever wanted to have a chance at winning a Silhouette Portrait, now is your chance to put your name into the draw!!! Check out the post here.

Also, during the week over at Bella, I had a layout to share...

"Every Book is an Adventure Waiting to Happen!"

products used:  cs - bazzill, kaisercraft; pp - Bella BLVD; alphas - Bella BLVD; other - Bella BLVD: cardstock stickers, designer tape & ciao chipboard; tattered angels glimmer mist, Silhouette cut files (disguise, stars & arrows); tools - Silhouette Portrait, black pen (sharpie).

What's great about sharing this layout today while the giveaway is on, is that this was one of the first layouts where I used and experimented with my silhouette portrait.  I played with creating those cute glasses (disguise) and of course the stars and arrow were a breeze to cut!

The story behind this layout is cute too.  Cam loves to flip through books.  In this house hold we LOVE reading.  So it came as no surprise that Cameron wanted to "read" as well.  And since Daddy wears glasses, Cam thought this was the thing to do!  *grin*

If you would like to learn a little more about this page, please head on over to Bella.  And don't forget about that awesome prize!!!  Thanks for visiting..x

Aliens in Underpants...

... save the world.  Yep.  It's true.  And they tend to appear during "Book Week"!!!!  *grin*!

I'm just popping in here very "briefly" (smirk!) to share with you Ethan's Book Week character...

He is a big fan of these books!  There is also one about dinosaurs in underpants... It must have something to do with six year olds and their sense of humour...

Anyway, for the effort he put into "helping make his costume" he won his class prize!  Yay Ethan!! Each prize winner got to choose a book.

Guess what character we might be getting dressed up as next year... oh well!  LOL!! At least I've been given plenty of notice!  :)

Thanks for visiting..x

PS - In case you were wondering about Tahlia and Liam..? Well I went to their separate parade as well but sadly didn't get any photos of Little Bo Peep (another class winner! yay!) and the strong man from Two Bullies.  But my little pirate (aka Cam) fell asleep in my arms and made it very difficult to take photos.. :(

Maybe I can persuade them to dress up on the week end!  LOL!  Wish me luck....

Firstly.... I just want to say thank you all so very much for the love and comments left behind from the Get Picky blog hop!  It is always so interesting to see who comes for a visit!  And I also want to extend a warm welcome to all my new followers (who probably found me through the hop!  Yay! New friends!!)  I hope you enjoy your time here. :)  I had an amazing 74 comments left for me to read through!  Thanks to each and everyone one of you who entered.  And of course, I now have to choose a winner for my little giveaway.......................................................................................

CONGRATULATIONS..........  Lizzy Hill!

The title caught my attention ~ I love the print look ~ I hope you bought 'em like this, cos it would some BIG amount of work to paste & fussy cut. Great idea, either way, so thank you:):)
Lizzy, if you can email me at leanneallinson (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk with your details, I'll send off my little gift to you as soon as I can.

So.... Today is reveal day for the next Get Picky Inspirational challenge.  This month it's a photo prompt - be inspired by this photo AND you must include FABRIC on your page.  The fabric can be in any way, shape or form (burlap, lace, felt etc)...

And here is my layout:
[Fern & Wilbur]
 products used: cs - resist ink; pp - October Afternoon, Kaisercraft, Jillibean Soup, Echo Park;  Alphas - American Crafts fabric thickers;  other - ink: tim holtz distress ink, versacolor; tulle; bo bunny brads; string; home made satin flower; felt; kaisercraft pearls; Autumn Leaves clear stamp; black pen.

This is another Book Week layout.  Tahlia knew right from the beginning that she wanted go as Fern from Charlotte's Web.  She didn't change her mind a gazillion times like the boys did!  LOL!  She made her own spider's web and found a pig pencil case from the $2 shop.  Gotta love a bargain! hee hee...

Anyway... I digress!  hee hee...

The last Get Picky challenge was a huge success!  I can't wait to see who participates in this challenge.  Good luck...x

Book Week...

Has it really been 12 months already?  Didn't I just finish completing a series of home made costumes...like.... last week?  And NOT last year?.... I'm sure that was the case.  So why did I find myself putting together another round of book character outfits, in the last few days....again!!

OMGoodness!  Time is flying.  I think it will be Christmas before we know it at this rate!  Aaaaarrrrggghhhhh! :D

Anyway!  The kids had been giving some thought to their characters.  The boys changed their minds several times.  But Tahlia, she knew exactly who she wanted to be, and put most of her character's traits together, all by herself.

Introducing..... "Fern".  The little girl who rescues Wilbur the runt pig, in E.B White's "Charlotte's Web".

Don't you just love the effort she put into her spider's web! LOL!!

Liam put some thought into his character too.  Except, his thoughts translated to.... "Hmmmmm.  I think I want to go as Frankenstein.  Again.  Just like last year."

Mary Shelley would be proud, huh?!  Hee hee....  He found most of his bits and pieces from last year and played the part of "Monster" beautifully! Ha!  He even walked around on parade with a monster's gait!  Gotta love the acting skills!

The parade was pretty special this year.  Not only did heaps of kids put the effort in to dressing up, but it was Ethan's first Book Week parade.

His original thoughts had him being dressed up as a viking.  Oh!  How much fun would it be to go to school with horns on your hat and to wield an axe without getting in trouble with your teacher!  *insert dreamy look here* ...

(Okay... Maybe that's not a dreamy look.  But he was certainly practicing the part of being a mean and nasty viking!) Bwahaha!

But alas, his ideas focused to his favourite character "of all time!"   Scooby Doo.....

A little improvising here and there, but overall I think we made an awesome effort!

So.... Does anyone else participate in Book Week?  I think secretly.. I kinda love it.  The craziness.  The whimsical dreams that I can... maybe, just maybe help the kids pull their outfits together! Bwahaha!  Who am I kidding?  There's no secret about it.  I am just plain nuts. I have to love it.  After all, I spent most of today driving back and forth to school, to watch different grades parade around the school hall, at different times.  Yep.  To drag Cam and myself back there several times (on minimal sleep the previous night!), I have to tell myself I love it! ;)  Because pulling costumes together on a few days notice, well...  That's just craziness!

Thanks for visiting..x

Create...

Have I shared this layout??? I'm pretty sure I have. It was for a challenge I set over at Scrapboxx - record a conversation.

{My Frankenstein}

I've been looking for it in my files from last year. And do you think I can find it? Nope. Nah-dah.

It has been published in this month's Scrapbooking Memories (Vol 13, no 6). These photos were from Liam's Book Week photo shoot from last year. :D He is a little monster!! Only kidding. I don't think I can say that this close to Mother's Day anyway! LOL!!!

Actually, I had forgotten it was being published this month. So it was a nice surprise when I found this layout in the magazine too!

{Our Spring Garden}

This layout was created for the Scrapabilities Scrap Master competition. It needed to have layers, and from memory, I think I plastered about seven layers onto this one!! :D

Create...

I have a few more layouts to share. These ones are mostly for fun. I am playing along with the challenges over at Scrapability Sketches and these layouts are what I came up with for the first three challenges....

Challenge #1: scrap your addiction

{addicted?}

journaling: addicted? chocolate. nuff said. we all love chocolate but these are a favourite.

I tea died the book page to blend in better with the chocolate patterned papers and just to give it that aged look. There are a mix of American Crafts, October Afternoon and Kaisercraft (Up, Up and Away) papers here. I have been hoarding the AC (background) patterned paper for a while now. I am so glad that I've now used it!

Challenge #2: use the colours purple, green, white and yellow

{tea Alice?}

journaling: book week 2010. This year you wanted to go as Alice from wonderland. You had seen the new movie earlier in the year and loved it.

This layout I had to do because I had already scrapped Liam's book week character. I couldn't let these photos sit on my desk un-scrapped. That's just asking for unwanted drama! LOL! Picture this.... "Why have you scrapped him & not me-eeeeee?" Oh. I can hear it alright. hee hee..

I really enjoyed this colour challenge. The splash of yellow is my favourite.

Challenge #3: scrap the bond you have with your pet

{window dog}

journaling: My boy & his window dog... for now. Until you are much bigger, you will have to play with him through the glass.

Cam adores Jack. And vise versa. But Jack is a little too boisterous with his love for the older kids. So far he has been really gentle with Cam. I guess he knows what he can get away with, with the older kids! Cheeky dog.

I really am crazy though!! LOL!! Not only am I trying to squeeze in "extra" scrapping (which I love anyway!) but I left this until last minute. hee hee.... note to self: be more organized!

Book Week...

Okay... So I know I'm a little premature in sharing these pics (the school book week parade isn't until Tuesday...) but, I was just too excited! LOL!! We are actually prepared this year! ha! Last year it was a little crazy (you know how it is - the crazy type that has a newborn in the house!!).

Well this year, I. Was. Going. To. Be. Ready!! hee hee... Can you guess what characters the kids have chosen??

Tahlia wants to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland... and Liam....?

He wanted to be Frankenstein! LOL!!! The best part (for me anyway!) is, that these characters are from actual books! hee hee... No Ben Ten or Barbie this year. :D
