JoAnn's Guest Designer | Park Lane Paperie Prairie Primrose

Hello Friends! Just popping in here to share another project kindly sponsored by JoAnn's Stores in the USA. Honestly, I am in love with the texture in these paper stacks. The foil and linen papers have me swooning! LOL!

For this project, I really wanted to play with mixing and matching patterned papers and printed cardstock. The paper stack used in creating this layout is Prairie Primrose.

step 1. Gather your supplies. The only embellishments on this page come from the gold foil thickers. Everything else can be found in the paper stack including the textured cardstock.

step 2. Trim cardstock to size. Trim the yellow gingham check to 8.25" x 4"; book text print to 8.25"x10.75"; and create a balance strip to cover the edges of the two patterned papers measuring 8.25" in width.

step 3. Fussy cut yellow roses from the linen floral patterned paper. Also trim a 4"x3" cut apart to create a tag. For the tag I trimmed the long sides by 0.25" and removed the top corners. Use a hole punch and a piece of twine to complete the tag.

step 4. Add you photo and start to layer the tag and fussy cut flowers. Add a title with gold foil thickers.

step 5. Cut nine (9) 2"x2" squares and curl the lower edge with a pencil. For more definition between layers, you could ink the edges with a soft brown.

step 6. Tuck the squares under the lower edge of the balance strips of patterned paper. The slight dimension from the paper curl creates interest and attracts the eye to look closer at the details.

Thanks for visiting here today. There's still more projects to come using the Park Lane Paperie paper stacks. Stay tuned...x

Jot Magazine | July Mood Board...

Hello Friends!  Have you had a chance to check out the new July Mood Board over at Jot Magazine lately?  It is a stunner!  Created by the lovely Jot Girl Beshka, it has citrus-y tang to it that completely appeals to me!

smallJULY2015BESHKA BOARD

This is what I came up with...

products used: cs - Bazzill; pp - Studio Calico, Jillibean Soup; alpha - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd stickers & chipboard; brads; tools - water colour paints, typewriter.

I was so inspired by the colours on this Mood Board that my story easily came together.  I also wanted to create a fresh look on my layout without the feminine touches. Therefore, colours + story + inspiration, culminated in a layout sharing my five year old’s passion for hockey and the crazy number of hours he spends practising.

I'm so glad I've documented this story. The Heidi Swapp "document" die inspired me to capture this snapshot of life. After all, isn't this what it's all about?  *grin*

Head on over to the JOT blog and submit your entry to win a really cool prize!  I can't wait to see what you create. Thanks for visiting...x

Bella Blvd | Pinterest Inspiration..

Hello Friends.  I am doing a little scrapbook house keeping today and catching up with some Bella Blvd.

This month I was challenged to use an image of leaves, as a source of Pinspiration for my layout.

I fell in love with the ombre colours and of course had to use leaves on my page as well.  I mixed it up with a selection Bella collections, all of which work and coordinate so well together...

 "Happy Camper"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bella Blvd; alpha - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd: chipboard, stickers; studio calico mist; tools - Fancy That Dies (leaves), typewriter.

One of my boys' favourite activities when camping, is to run through piles of leaves as they go crashing through the bush.  This always worries me though, because of the high number of deadly snakes and spiders (wherever we go camping) that could be lurking beneath the leaf litter!  My only consolation is that these boys they make so.much.noise. that any creature, deadly or otherwise, will disappear well in advance of my boys getting near them!  Fingers crossed anyway!

If you would like to see how some of the other DT members were inspired by this same image, please visit Bella Blvd here.  Thanks so much for visiting ..x

While I am doing some house keeping, I thought I would share this awesome free printable created by Stephanie,  owner & creator of Bella Blvd.

She had such a huge response to her first Thanks Giving giveaway in 2011, that she wanted to do it all again, with an updated version!  Stay tuned to her blog in the coming days, because you will be able to download the new version for FREE.  Check out the 2011 version here.  It really is super cute!

School Holiday paper play | bookmark tutorial...

Hello Everyone.  You may have guessed by my short posts and lack of commenting lately, that we are in the middle of a two week school holiday break.  And the weather is very wet and dreary, so what better way to spend the day than to play with a little bit of paper.  *grin*

The kids have been reading a lot of books lately and Liam especially has been asking  me to make him a simple bookmark.  Well, to keep him busy (and creative) I told him, he could make his own bookmark! Enter... Pinterest!

"Liam's Dragon - aged 10"

After a little bit of searching, we chose a fun origami style bookmark, created from a sheet of 6in x 6in patterned paper.  Perfect!  I certainly have a few 6in x 6in paper pads stashed away and they need to be used!

Here is the origami folding method we used..

The next step is to insert a 2.75in square inside the open fold to create the mouth.  Finish off the bookmark by adding eyes (two different sized circle punches), teeth and tongues.  I let the kids fold and glue all of their monsters and dragons together.  That is how easy this tutorial is!

Once dry, they slip straight over the book page ready for the kids to devour more of the written word! *wink*

They are really quite fun and kind of cute to look at! Check them out...

"Cameron's Monster - aged 3"

"Ethan's Lizard - aged 7"

What creative things do you like to make with kids? My boys really love to "scrapbook"! LOL! Thanks for visiting...x
