Jillibean Soup | Q&A...

Hi everyone!  What a busy time of year this is! It's only November and already my creative schedule is filling up!  I wanted to share the Jillibean Soup blog link today and lead you towards some amazing projects created by the design team.  We've been playing with the new Holly Berry Borscht collection!  It is just divine...

"Q&A December"

products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Jillibean Soup (Holly Berry Borscht); alpha - Jillibean Soup (Beanboard Yam Yellow); other - Jillibean Soup: ephemera pack, Mix the Media stencil, vellum stars, wood sprinkles, wise words, coordinating label stickers; tools - machine stitching, typewriter.

Cam is at an age where the questions coming flying thick and fast every. five. minutes! LOL! And last year leading towards the Christmas season, all he wanted to know was when Christmas was coming? How long til Christmas? How many sleeps til Christmas? What will I get for Christmas?  Well... you get the idea! *grin*  I thought I might as well document his driving. me. up. the. wall. questions... Ummm... I mean cuteness.

As it does get kind of crazy at this time of year, I hope this post inspires you to take the time to note the little details - the sub stories of the overall picture, if you like.  I have so many photos of Christmas and holiday adventures that sometimes they all just blend into one lump.  And that's usually the Christmas 2010, Christmas 2011, Christmas 2012...  This year I am determined to do a little better.  Wish me luck!

Thanks for visiting...x

Scraptastic Club | Heart It Races...

Hi Everyone!  Today I want to share two layouts I've created using this month's gorgeous Heart It Races kit from Scraptastic Club!  As soon as I saw this kit I fell in love with the colors! And when I teamed some of the papers from the kit up with this silly photo of Cam, a crazy idea "popped" into my head.  Yes! That's right, pop culture references immediately started gathering and I couldn't go past the look on my his face and "uber male model" Zoolander.

products used: Scraptastic Club Kit - Heart It Races; Add-on - Heart It Races; Flair Badges - Heart It Races; other - Jillibean Soup wood sprinkle; paint; tools - typewriter.

Cam has absolutely no idea who Zoolander is... yet.  But with pop culture so prevalent, as he grows older, he will no doubt discover why I linked this particular photo with this title.

I've layered many of the embellishments found in the kit, to form a cluster at the bottom of the page and created a countdown "3, 2, 1" above the photo in subtle reference to getting ready to have a photo taken (or posing to have a photo taken!!) which is what he did here.

To balance the white space at the top of the page, I've added a few embellishment strips in colors that also create a visual triangle with the rest of the layout.

My journaling has been typed directly onto white cardstock and tucked behind the embellishment cluster.

Zoolander references may be 'old school' now but the same idea of using pop culture sayings or memes can apply to almost any scrapbooking situation.  This second layout has been created with a more recent pop culture phenomenon - The Hunger Games.

products used: Scraptastic Club Kit - Heart It Races; Add-on - Heart It Races; Cut Aparts - Heart It Races; Clear Stamps - Sentiment Series October other - paint; tools - typewriter; machine stitching.

The quote which inspired me to create this layout has been included in the journaling.

"May the odds be ever in your favour".

I've just added my own twist to the sentiment, linking it to the "foodie" photo.  The title reference has been used to reinforce the "food" message and also link to the quote I originally started with.

One of the patterned paper borders, had the word "scrumptious" written on it and so I trimmed it to suit my page.

And the rub-on arrows have been used as another reference to the title origins.

Finally I've added extra layers from the embellishments in the kit and trimmed the cut aparts to include the dart image.

There are so many pop culture references that apply to photos I've snapped of my children, I'm sure I will be using more in the future. What are some of your favourites? Thanks for visiting..x

Bella Blvd | Spooktacular...

Hi Everyone!  This week over at Bella Blvd we are creating all things Halloween!  This caused a bit of a quandary for me, because even though Halloween is becoming more and more popular in Australia, as a family, my kids aren't bothered about celebrating it.  Of course this is bound to change as soon as I type and publish this blog post! *grin*

As you will learn over at the Bella Blvd blog, I chose to create a layout about Cameron being inspired to dress up as a "mummy", thanks to endless episodes of Scooby Doo!  Sheesh! Can you relate?  I'm just glad he grabbed actual bandages rather than a roll of toilet paper!!

products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Bella Blvd (Halloween Magic); Alpha - Bella Blvd (High-Five Alphas); other - Bella Blvd: stickers; embroidery thread; tools - machine stitching, typewriter, foam tape.

Halloween Magic is versatile enough to help me capture this memory without too many heavy references back to Halloween!

As I mentioned before, this entire week over at Bella Blvd is going to be dedicated to all things spooky!  If you need some inspiration, don't forget to check out what the creative DT have put together.  Thanks for visiting..x

Bella Blvd | How Much can a Koala Bare?

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to share with you my layout created for Bella Blvd, using the new Tiny Tots collection.

"How Much Can A Koala Bare?"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bella Blvd (Tiny Tots); alpha - Bella Blvd (Amorie); other - Bella Blvd: crochet heart, stickers; paper clip; tools - machine stitching, typewriter.

Alright. Before I start, I want to let you know that I know koalas aren't bears!  LOL!  But I couldn't help the play on words, especially if you knew the treatment this favourite toy gets in our home.  And I pretty much fell in love with this little fella as soon as I saw the samples for the new Tiny Tots collections!  Aussie fans will hopefully be ecstatic!

Cam adores his little friend.  His name is 2.2 (two two).  For this to make sense, you need to be four years old.  And when you are four, the number four (4) is your favourite number, therefore it make perfect sense to name your favourite toy 2.2 because 2+2=4.  Simple right?! *grin*

To keep all this journaling contained, I have added a paperclip to the back of a phrase sticker (Tiny Tots: Treasures & Text).  The sticker was then backed with white cardstock trimmed to the sticker size.  It now slips over the photo, preventing the journaling beneath from pushing the photo up and holds it all together.

If you would like to see some more inspiration using the new releases over at Bella Blvd, please visit the blog this week!  So much goodness over there!  Thanks for visiting..x

Bella Blvd | Back to School Week...

Hi Everyone!  Over on the Bella Blvd blog this week, we are celebrating a timeless tradition!  he he he... Back to School!

"School Ready"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bella Blvd: Tiny Tots; alpha - Bella Blvd: Amorie Chipboard Alpha; other - Bella Blvd: crochet heart, stickers, chipboard; staple, ManorHouse leaf; tools - typewriter.

Next year, in January, my last baby goes to school.  Not only will this event be quite the milestone for him, but it will also be quite a momentous occasion for me!  And I dare say I'll be more upset than he will about the prospects of attending school!  However, for the longest time, he has been content to wave goodbye to his siblings in the morning, as they ride the bus to school and happily come back home with me.  This situation has clearly changed in the last few weeks.  He is confident and ready to go to school.  He does a lot of 'practising' while at home and of course, now invents homework to complete along side his brothers and sister after they arrive back home, in the afternoon.

Today I have used the new Tiny Tots collection to document his learning process.  The Alphabet Soup patterned paper is ideal!  To further enhance my story, I've included a short video of my boy doing his 'homework' via a  QR code at the bottom of the layout.  Careful as to not obscure the details of the code, I've surrounded it with stickers from the Tiny Tots Trinkets and Treasure & Text sticker sheets.   Finally, to transform this new collection into a school themed layout, I've added a McIntosh Crochet Heart with a small leaf, to repeat the apple motif found below.

I hope you get a chance to check out all the inspiration over at Bella Blvd this week!! Thanks for visiting today...x

Lot's of fun and fabulous circles to play with!!!  *grin*

This is the layout I created..

"Bad Case of the Mondays"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bella Blvd: other - Bella Blvd: Paper Pieces, label stickers, stickers; embroidery thread; tools - typewriter, circle punches.

I trimmed two sheets of this patterned paper at the same point, so when the top paper has circles punched into it, the bottom patterned paper still revealed what the negative shape would have taken away.

Cam always gets into a melancholy mood on a Monday morning.  He misses his older siblings when they go off to school.  *grin*  I'm pretty sure however, next year when he starts to go to school, there may be a different reason for having the grumps on a Monday!  LOL!

Thanks for vising...x
