Scraptastic Club | Shake It Off

Hello Friends!  Up on the Scraptastic Club blog today I am sharing two quick and easy ways to enhance or create your own embellishments.

I absolutely adore the November Shake It Off kit and it already comes with gorgeous products to embellish your pages.  But sometimes I want to add a little extra something, just to make my layout feel complete.  Especially if it helps to relay the story I am documenting.

"You Had Me At Hello"

products used: Scraptastic Club Kit - Shake It Off; Add On - Shake It Off; Stamp Set - Shake It Off; Cut Aparts - Shake It Off; other - mist (Heidi Swapp); tools - typewriter, gold pen.

On this first layout, I enhanced the Jillibean Soup mini placemat by misting it and adding gold highlights...

The mist provided the colour I wanted but after placing the mini placemat onto the patterned paper of my layout, it tended to become lost.  Thank goodness for gold pens and a reasonably steady hand!!  I placed the dried placemat onto a foam mat to help keep the penmanship neat.

The mini placemat/title card was then added to the cluster near my photos to help highlight the premade embellishment of the typewriter.

And I love that the Shake It Off Stamp Set provided extra hints to support the typewriter story with both the font and bold "+'s".

With my second layout, I have created a very simple embellishment using cardstock, patterned paper and the Shake It Off Stamp Set.

"Here's The Story"

products used: Scraptastic Club Kit - Shake It Off; Add On - Shake It Off; Stamp Set - Shake It Off; Flair - Shake It Off; other - twine; tools - typewriter, machine stitching, hole punch.

I needed a place to add journaling to my layout "Here's the Story".  My patterned paper choices were already quite busy but the clear stamp brushstroke image sparked an idea and allowed me to add an area of white space without adding more clutter.

Head on over to the blog for more details.

To finish my layout I added the rest of the embellishments on a diagonal line to help lead the eye back to the journaling.

Jillibean Soup | Minecraft...

Hello Friends!  I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but my sons are crazy (and I mean car-razy)
about minecraft.  Especially my eldest boy.  And it is just about doing my head in, trying to keep up with this phenomenon.  So while I am trying to understand it, I decided to create a layout about this latest obsession, using the gorgeous new collections from Jillibean Soup.

"Minecraft"

products used: cs - American Crafts; pp - Jillibean Soup (Soup Staples III, Sightseeing Stew); alpha - Jillibean Soup: beanboard alphas (wood plank); other - Jillibean Soup: wood sprinkles, mini placemat, Mix the Media ephemera, sequins, label stickers, wise words; paint, mist, ink; tools - Jillibean Soup: clear stamp, xoxo stencil; typewriter.

I am loving the stencils, stamps and those wood plank beanboard alphas!!! SO what have you spotted lately that's caught your eye over at Jillibean Soup?

Thanks for visiting..x

Scraptastic Club | Pinterest Monday...

Hi Friends!  Today I wanted to share with you a layout I created for Scraptastic Club recently.  It was for a Pinterest challenge/Moodboard that Kim Jeffress and I put together.

Plenty of fun & funky stripes!!

This is the layout I was inspired to created...

"Loving This"

products used: cs - white Kaisercraft; Scraptastic club - Either Way kit, Either Way add-on, Either Way Cut aparts, Either Way Flair Badges; other - watercolour paint, typewriter, Heidi Swapp colorshine (gold).

I wanted the stripes to go in different directions  to create a little bit of interest on my page.

I fussy cut some of the larger blooms from one of the patterned papers and threw in some spots for good measure! *grin*

But before I added all my layers to my white cardstock, I decided that I wanted a subtle hint of colour wash using my water colour paints.  For.the.first.time.ever! LOL!  I wasn't very bold with it.  In fact I was quite timid! LOL!  Maybe next time.  And I will be a little more patient with the drying time too!

I hope you get a chance to visit the wonderful team over at Scraptastic (ps - There's a DT call going out over there).  There is always plenty of inspiration from the team.  Thanks for visiting me today..x

Jillibean Soup | June Layouts...

Hello Friends!  Today I want to share with you one of my layouts from the Jillibean Soup blog this week.

This month I've had fun playing with the new releases.  In particular, Spicy Social Soup and Sightseeing Stew.  Layering them all together is one of my favourite things to do. And I really wanted to use orange, green and grey in a colour combination.  Weird.  I know! *grin*

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup; alpha - Jillibean Soup; other - Jillibean Soup: Spicy Social Soup pea pod parts (die cuts), soup labels, clear stamps; mist, Archivers Ink, small clothes peg; tools - machine stitching, alpha die & big shot.

After I had added my layers, I knew I needed to add something.  Just a little something but it has made a fun impact.  The clear stamps from Spicy Social Soup was my solution.  These hashtags are my fave! # epic # you&me # lovethis

The large white alphas are from a MFT die and I love mixing up the different text sizes and fonts for my titles.

My second layout involves this month's designer challenge.  We were challenge to select a quote from Pinterest and use it in our designs.  I went looking and probably stayed on Pinterest for days!!! LOL!  Before I finally fell in love with this image.

(source)

I love the font, the type and the stylized way the letters are formed.  But most of all I love the words.

This is the layout I was inspired to create...

Thanks for visiting today!  I always appreciate it and the lovely comments you leave behind...x

Jillibean Soup | Make it Happen...

Hi Everyone!  Just popping in here very briefly to share with you a card that I created using Jillibean Soup.  Up on the blog today it looks like the designers all coordinated our products!  *grin*

I wanted to make a masculine birthday card.  I always struggle to create this type of card and more often than not I have to go out and buy one because my attempts usually end up being too girly!

"Make it Happen"

products used: cs - kraft, Kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup (Sightseeing Stew/Geocache + Soup Staples II/orange salt); alpha - alphabeans; other - Jillibean Soup: soup labels; mist; tools - machine stitching.

The number "11" was created using the Roasted Red Alphabeans adhered to kraft cardstock.  I then peeled the top layer of the 'red' off to get the white numbers.

A couple of splashes of colorshine mist onto white cardstock and I'm pretty much done.  And the 3D stars are my little touch of whimsy! LOL!

I'm a Guest Designer!!

Hello Everyone!  I hope you all have exciting things planned for March.  Yep.  That's right.  March!!!  sheesh!  But despite the weeks flying away on me, I have some awesome news to share.

Late last year I was invited by the lovely Renate to be a Guest Designer for her blog Scrappeland.  This scrapbooking forum and challenge blog is based in Norway and they asked if I would like to create something Project Life style, to help inspire their readers.  Of course I jumped at the chance!  I rarely get the chance to be a GDT and I was excited that someone would be interested in what I create! LOL!

So here it was, late November and Christmas was approaching. I knew I definitely wanted to document this week and of course, the gorgeous Heidi Swapp had just visited Australia. I had in mind right from the beginning that I was going to combine the two events!

"Project Life 2013 | Week 52"

products used: pp - Heidi Swapp (Believe); alpha - Heidi Swapp (mistables); other - Heidi Swapp: clear embellishments & colorshine; Greatest View badge/flair; staples, twine; tools - typewriter.

I hope you enjoy this video tutorial I've created and if you would like to join in with the challenge I've set, please head on over to Scrappeland.

Jillibean Soup | Love Notes...

Hi Everyone!  I'm back again today (and somewhat late!!) to share another CHA project created for Jillibean Soup

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup (Heart Healthy Red Bean Soup/Soup Staples II); other - Jillibean Soup: paper doiles, pea pod parts, stampables kraft bags, beanstalks (twine), flash cards, soup labels, coordinating stickers; mist, embroidery thread; tools - typewriter, foam tape.

I really love this Valentine's Day collection and was thrilled when given the chance to play along with it.  There are plenty of layers here too.  *grin*  I couldn't help myself!  And in the craziness that is CHA... I created this LO within two hours!  And that included the online communication with both Kimber and Jill.  A small feat in itself considering the time differences! LOL!

This layout will hold all those special notes my Mr 8 likes to write to me.  sigh... These love notes will become a more treasured gift in years to come. :)

Thanks for visiting me today...x

Bella Blvd | Coffee Date...

Hello Friends!!  Happy Valentine's Day!!  I hope this wonderful Friday puts you in the mood to grab someone close to you and give them a great big hug!  Today I have a 'love' inspired layout to share with you.  Over at Bella Blvd we have been challenged with a new Pinterest image to glean inspiration from...

"Coffee Date"
products used: pp - Bella Blvd (Love and Marriage/Freestyle Sophisticates); alphas - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd: crochet hearts, stickers, designer tape; Kaisercraft pearls, Mister Huey's mist, vellum; tools - typewriter, hand stitching, silhouette portrait.

At first glance my layout doesn't really resemble the Pinterest image but I have taken inspiration from a number areas!  *grin*  The colour of the back ground, the heart banners, the hearts(!), the 'love' arrangement and even a little bit of the ombre, have all been used.  :)

I knew, after seeing this Pinterest image for the first time, that I wanted to use the crochet hearts.  They add such a lovely texture to the page.  I've teamed them up with some silhouette cut hearts and hand stitched them to the layout.

If you would like to see what the other designers have created with this image, please head on over to the Bella blog.  And while you are there, don't forget to sign up for the Bella Buzz newsletter - due out later today!

And as an update for everyone who just. can't. wait. to get their hands on the new CHA collections.....

Thanks so much for visiting...x

Jillibean Soup | Forever & Ever...

Hello Friends.  It has still been busy about these parts.  My son celebrated his eighth birthday yesterday and the heat registered 46 degrees outside and 48 degrees in the car!  A new record for this time of year!  sheesh!  Thankfully we celebrated with an early morning swim and air-conditioning at Grandma and Grandad's house!! *wink*  Today, now that the craziness has slowly settled, I'd like to share my LO that was up on the Jillibean Soup blog earlier this week.

"Forever & Ever"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup (Heart Healthy Red Bean Soup, Soup Staples); other - Jillibean Soup: stickers, die cuts; paint.

This Valentine's Day will be a breeze to scrap, as Jillibean Soup has released a fun new collection!  With Kraft based papers!!  Yay!  I wanted to highlight a few of the different pattern images on the one layout but because my style is relatively simple I reduced the clutter by creating a patchwork effect.

I am looking forward to sharing some more of my projects created with this collection.  Stay tuned as a few have been sent off to CHA!

If you would like to see what the team have been up to or to just check out some of the sneaks for CHA, head on over to Jillibean Soup and visit the blog.  Oh and by the way.. Check out the DT call that has been posted.  Good luck and thanks for visiting here today...x

Bella Blvd | Pinterest Inspiration...

Hello Friends.  I feel like I still have the need for post holiday slumbers.  *grin*  The temperatures here in SE Queensland have started to soar.  And that's okay.  Because we can quite comfortably turn on the AC and stay in our pyjamas all day long if need be. *wink*  But today I thought I'd like to leave my lazy haze, for just a moment and share with you my layout created for Bella Blvd.

"Imagination"
products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bella Blvd; alpha - Bella Blvd; other - Bella Blvd:  cardstock stickers, designer tape; colorshine mist, date stamp, archivers ink.

Ethan created this 'costume' for book week by wearing blue clothes and painting the side of a cardboard box, blue.  He didn't have very many materials to work with and I didn't want to interfere with his grand scheme.  He stuck a possum hat on his head and went as a character from the book he is holding.  And guess what.  He won.  LOL!  He won the prize for his class.  He didn't need a store bought costume for the latest superhero or the thing that all the cool kids are currently wearing!  I love that he was creative and stuck to his idea!

I've taken my inspiration from the red and yellow colours but there's a few other details from the Pinterest photo that I've used on my page!  Head on over to the Bella Blvd blog for more details.  Thanks so much for visiting...x
