Hello blue eyes...

Yes! Baby's got blue eyes! How excited am I to see that Cameron has still got baby blues. Tahlia, Liam and Ethan's eyes, all very quickly changed to a beautiful brownish-sometimes-green colour, while I sat back hoping, just maybe, I would get a look in (pardon the pun!).
My eye colour is a very clear and distinct blue. Mark's eye colour is a very clear and distinct brown. The dominant colour, obviously. I know it is quite a trivial thing but.... *sigh* ... this makes me happy! Lol!
Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Project, project...

Have you seen this? ...
Emilie Ahern has set about a little challenge on her blog. And I love the idea! I am so willing to play along and I hope that you join me over there too...
Emilie has a love of the tv show, Project Runway. Every week she is setting up a challenge inspired by the show. This week is all about a hint of glitter...
Here is my layout (even though I haven't seen the US version of the show...*yikes!*) LOL! :

I've chosen to create a reverse imprint letter "C" monogram... (is that what it is called?!) with glitter. The layout is about the small details of Cameron's first month! Wow! That has gone fast, considering he will be two months old next week.

Thanks for stopping by. I loved this challenge and can't wait for more...

American Crafts challenge...

There's a challenge over at the American Crafts blog that I just had to try out! Sewing on a layout and using two of their products. Easy, peasy, right?! Well, you can't keep me away from the sewing machine at the moment. Especially when it comes to scrapbooking! LOL! And I just wanted to sew some of this tulle onto this girly layout because... 1). It's about ballet; and 2). I often use sewing to emphasise titles.

The two products I've used from AC are the white chipboard thickers and the pink cardstock (peony).

Of course there's also another one of Jodie's cute flowers! TFL...

Those beautiful butterflies and handmade cream flower are just devine...

You should definitely go and check out her etsy if you are interested! :)

Create...

Just a quick update to share a little something I've been playing with in the last few days...

I knew while in hospital, that I wanted a photo of Cameron's identification bracelet while it was still on his little arm. I didn't know how I'd go about it, but I am also pleased that I've managed to incorporate the said id bracelet on the layout as well.

These papers and circle and flower diecuts, were from the December Boxx of Scraps (I think....!) I know it was definitely a Boxx of Scraps! You can find these fabulous kits over here. Thanks for visiting.

Prayers...

"Before I lay me down to sleep...."

Cameron is 6 weeks old today and apart from saying his prayers while sleeping, he is giving beautiful smiles and observing everything that moves while awake! Lol! Tahlia, Liam and Ethan are all still besotted with him and can't get enough time with their baby brother.
Thanks for visiting...

Photo-a-day...

Day 7: (saturday)

the photo/photos:

the story:

Okay...I know I am a day late, but... We've had a huge weekend! And I am absolutely beat right now!

Yesterday (Saturday) was Mark's birthday! We spent a lovely morning relaxing at home, playing the new Wii games, before going for a drive to the beach. On the way home, we decided to drop by Hog's Breath Cafe for a little treat... These guys had the munchies! And the craving needed to be filled... But look at the size of that "humble" ice-cream sundae! Let's just say, four spoons with one dessert, was a good idea!

Photo-a-day...

Day 6: (friday)

the photo/photos: the story:

Finally a post about the new veggie garden! See Dad, I am watering it every day...I promise! (Probably not as much as you would...but we have water restrictions...and I'm sticking with that for my excuse! Lol!!)

This little patch of ground has been fenced off from the dog, garden beds raised for proper drainage and tenderly cared for, by my Dad while here was visiting us recently...

He is a veggie growing fanatic! Anyone who knows him, knows this about him. Anyway, I digress...

The kids love getting out there first thing in the morning to water the garden. And it is growing rapidly! Ethan especially is interested in the growing process. He was also actively involved in helping Grandad Jim build it. Fence and all!

They are also keen to harvest the end product. Corn, broccoli, tomatoes, celery... That maybe a few weeks away yet, so I am hoping the novelty doesn't wear off too soon and I can interest the kids in eating a more varied range of vegetables. Well, I at least have to find something more "grosser" than beans...maybe then they'll eat the green stuff without all the fuss!

Photo-a-day...

Day 5: (thursday)

the photo/photos:

the story:

On a trip to the city about a week ago - ish!, (time is irrelevant at the moment, since one day pretty much melds into the next), Liam found a single marble on the ground. Fascinated by this piece of glass, he held onto it like it was a precious jewel...

From that moment on during the day, it was a marble hunt. I lost count of the number of times I asked him to watch where he was going and not walk into the path of other people...but he was too busy searching for more marbles!

"What do you do with them, Mum?" he constantly was asking...

"Umm.... You gather a few of them together and play a game with them by knocking them out of a circle drawn on the ground...." note: this was said with a desperate glance at Mark... After all, I've never played with them!

Soooo...

Recently it was our nephew's birthday. Liam and Jesse are only 3 1/2 months apart in age... Needless to say they are also very good friends! Liam knew immediately what he wanted to buy as a gift, for his best buddy! Marbles....
Out came the pocket money and on came another marble hunt... This time it was a sanctioned one! Amazingly, we found several bags of marbles in a bargain bin at Target. And the pocket money covered two bags of the precious jewels....Hence the photo of Liam's marbles housed in a glass jar, that was pilfered from my scrapping table!
ps- I'd better take a photo of the new vegetable patch tomorrow! Got to keep my Dad happy....that's if it is still alive! hehehe... hmmmm.... *insert lip chewing here!*

Photo-a-day...

Day 4: (wednesday)

the photo/photos:

the story:

It has been a little bit cooler here in the early mornings and late evenings, but warms up significantly during the day. (Typical SE Qld weather!) Tahlia claims she doesn't feel the cold but I don't like seeing her wear just a t-shirt and shorts when there is a definite bite in the air... as well as swine flu!

So today was a pupil-free day at school, thanks to the Ekka (Brisbane Show), and she was in a quandary as to what to dress into... Knowing that I would promptly tell her to turn around and put something warmer on, this was her solution! Toe socks!

Tahlia felt confident that she could get away with wearing her t-shirt and shorts, if she combined the outfit with a pair of rainbow coloured toe socks! And she was right! At least she wasn't walking around on the floor tiles in bare feet...and it made me happy to see she was thinking ahead and taking initiative! Good job, Honey!

Besides, who wouldn't love a bright pair of socks like that to warm up a winter's day!!

Photo-a-day...

Day 3: (tuesday)

the photo/photos:

the story:

This week we are fish-sitting! Huh?... Our neighbours and camping buddies, (hi guys!), have gone away for the week to go... yes, you guessed it...camping!! And as always, we happily feed their fish while they are away. Although this time, we are under instructions to restrict their food intake! Lol!

The last time we fish-sat, was when Cameron was born and I was out of commission for a week in hospital. During that time I guess the kids became over-enthusiastic about feeding the fish or there was no communication as to who was feeding them and the lucky fish, had their diet increased maybe two or three fold! So the fish food has been placed in an adult height position and monitored daily! Sorry Sharky and Goldy....

Photo-a-day...

Day 2: (monday)

the photo/photos:

the story:

Cameron is five weeks old today... Sleeping doesn't seem to be getting any better...he likes to snuggle in and lay upright on your chest... He is 57cm in length and weighs just under 4kgs...

Ethan has graduated from calling him "your baby brother" to "Camwon Twavis". He likes to introduce Cam to others now and as a family, we are required to call him by his Christian names!

Tahlia and Liam have been sick and thankfully today is a public holiday, so they not missing out on school. What they are missing out on, are cuddles with "Camwon Twavis"! They need to be healthy first!

Here we go...

Day 1... (sunday)

the photo/photos:

the story:

Now I know these photos are not what my Dad is waiting to see! hehehe... Although he loves his grandkids very much, right now I'm pretty sure he is more interested in seeing how the brand new veggie garden (the one that he slaved over, building it for me) is holding out... I guess he will have to wait a little bit longer...well at least until I get out there....whoops! Does that mean I haven't watered it once in the last three weeks?... We will have to see...
Now back to the story:
Ethan (man! he looks soooo grown up here!!!) was invited to his very first birthday party! You know the ones... The birthday party that isn't a family one or because he is a younger sibling and really can't be left out kind of party!
He has been super excited (at three years old) running around the house asking EVERY day if it was time to go to Connor's birthday party. And how do I know that this is a major event for him? Well, other than his use of "pester power" *insert grin*, he has been enthusiastic and very sweetly announcing that "Connor is my bestest friend, Mum!"
Well, I can't argue with that....and now my little boy has attended his first "invitation only" birthday bash!

Photo-a-day...

This coming week, starting tomorrow, (like I have nothing else to do!), I am going to challenge myself to post a photo-a-day. I'm going to try and challenge myself even further and take shots that are a little bit different...not your standard-photo-of-the-kids kind of thing...but something the records our everyday life...

I may not be able to put a layout together right away...but at least I'll have the basis for one...journaling and photos! I have been wanting to record a random week now, for quite a while. I'm hoping this will motivate me...and especially if I put this post out into blogland, I can't embarrass myself and not do it...right?! :D

I'm hoping I can motivate a few of you guys out there as well... go on... challenge yourself! I dare you! Lol! If you do play, please let me know by leaving a comment. Maybe we can inspire each other! Wish me luck!

4 weeks old and create...

Already?... Somewhere in my sleep deprived mind, I know this but... It really doesn't feel like that amount of time has passed so quickly. And again I know that I'll look back on this in four years time and say the same thing. The difference being (I hope), I won't be so sleep deprived!!

Here's our munchkin, safe in his Daddy's arms...

Cameron at four weeks loves to listen to softly played music, have a gentle head massage and be the recipient of plenty of cuddles. He's not so fond of bath time, having a nappy changed or anything really that relates to exposure to the cool weather! Well, who would! Lol!

And of course, Cameron has been the inspiration behind a layout or two... hehehe...

This layout shows him at two weeks old.

And the detail...

The "So Tiny" layout is also just my way of remembering at how I keep saying to myself, how tiny he is and knowing that he is definitely not going to stay this way!

And some more detail...
